About Ready for Basketball

Remember the times were you play H-O-R-S-E with friends in the backyard? What can be better than playing it with an actual NBA super star, and beating him at it. Thought a bit late in posting, here’s a video short documentary that I got to track down of NBA All-Star LeBron James getting schooled by contestant David Kalb at Venice Beach, California early last month (September).

Anyways, October is when most of the fun begins for those of us who are playing Fantasy Basketball and/or just fans of the game. It’s also a time to check out trades, injury reports, and highlights during the NBA Summer League in Vegas. Just like pre-season of most sports, it’s the time were hopes of your team winning the Championship is at its peak and outmost glory. Simply because everyone has a clean record, 0–0.

But for me, personally, GO LAKERS!

Watch TV Season Premieres on Hulu

Ever since dropping Season-3 on tubes everywhere this past Monday night, NBC subliminally stated to the other networks, “We’re back bitches!” Meanwhile, I rarely watch TV when I get home other than watch MNF, ESPN and FOX Sports to keep up with Sports in general. Ever since getting a Hulu invite a couple months ago, I have been more than impressed with how far it has come from its days of closed beta.

Anyways, a couple of TV shows that I have been following lately are: Heroes, Chuck, The Office, My Name is Earl, and Kitchen Nightmares to name a few. On that end, I have to give it up to NBC in letting Chuck fans have a sneak peek of Season-2’s first episode available on Hulu days before its premiere on Primetime this upcoming Monday, September 29th. You may watch it below. But best to do so soon as its suppose to expire in 2-days.

Chuck Season-2 “Sneak Peek” Premiere: Chuck Versus The First Date

If you have missed the other season premieres of some of the shows I have listed above, you may check them out below:

PS. On a side note (Design-wise), the only biggest grudge at the moment with Hulu is the dimension it uses: 512px by 296px. Hence, at the time of this writing, I have my main content’s width to 550px. I would like to have 500px to keep things clean and in order but with the use of different video sites (i.e. Youtube, Hulu, Video, …), it is safer to use this much space for now; though it irks me when the copy goes of to the right of a 500px video.

Nike Snowboard Boots Fall/Winter 2008

It seems that Nike is set to release its Fall/Winter 2008 line of snowboard boots. They promoted their new line via some toy boots (as in the photos in this post). I wonder who Nike will get to join their team. For sure not Shaun White as he just inked a 10-year endorsement deal with Burton early this year. That, and it’s just going to be weird seeing him go with Nike as Burton has been there since he was a little kid.

I have to give it to Nike though, they’ll probably attract some share of the market as they are a well known brand. I just don’t know if they will attract those season-riders (such as myself) as I have been a brand-whore with ThirtyTwo in terms of snowboard boots. They are just damn comfortable and does what it needs to do to have me ride all day/night long.

Anyways, time will tell if Nike’s snowboarding line will be a hit or miss1.

  1. PS. Nike—if you need a tester/reviewer, I’ll be more than up for it =) []

Add Insult to My Injury — Bernard Pollard Fan Club T-Shirt

As if grown men (like me) everywhere in Fantasy Football land haven’t suffered enough… Believe Merch has designed a t-shirt commemorating Bernard Pollard’s infamous hit on Tom Brady this past Sunday. Not to mention, they were kind enough to add a small bio on him and why the tee came about:

Bernard Karmell Pollard (born December 23, 1984 in Fort Wayne, Indiana) is an American football safety for the Kansas City Chiefs in the National Football League. He was drafted in the second round of the 2006 NFL Draft. Pollard played college football at Purdue University. Pollard has been dubbed “The Bonecrusher” for his hard hits and tackles.

On September 7, 2008, Pollard was involved in a play that ended with New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady being taken off the field with a knee injury and not returning for the rest of the game. It was later revealed that Pollard’s hit on Brady most likely has ended the quarterback’s season.

The shirt is available on red or white for $19.99. You may go to their product page by clicking here.

Bastards! Good one =)

The Agony of a First Pick Going Down

AP Photo/Winslow Townson
Tom Brady Out for the 2008 Season due to season-ending knee injury.

There’s nothing harder and more agonizing than seeing your first pick go down, get injured and be ruled out for the season in Fantasy Football. It sucks. After picking Tom Brady as my first pick, 11th in the Draft Order out of 12 people, and getting Randy Moss in the wrap around and my second pick, I thought I got the best I can per round at the time. But alas, that’s Fantasy Football for you, nothing is certain and it can either be rewarding or painful depending on which side you are on.

So what’s next, well I will probably try to pickup Cassel like everyone and their mommas are doing. I have a bad waiver priority (10 out of 12) so I need to have a plan-B and plan-C just in case I don’t get that piece of the puzzle. Other than the Raider’s O-line sucking vs. Denver’s Defense last night, JaMarcus Russell did a fairly good job for his first start of the season. However, it isn’t enough to ex me as having him as my starting QB.

Although, it is still early in the season, and I have hopes for my Fantasy Football team to still make it to playoffs. I have played with a team that was on the very bottom out of 12 teams, and still managed to place and get dough at the end. This one just sucks as its causing me at least 20pts. per week—Brady’s average projected Fantasy points.

Oh well, c’est la vie.

PS. I found out that Cassel went to Chatsworth HS, and played for the Chancellors. I guess its a sign mwahaha…
