TopJump

Holy crap Batman! As I was combing through my Flickr comments this past weekend, I stumbled upon Chrispitality’s (aka. Chris Clarke). I then saw a good amount of “bed jumping” photos on his Flickr stream. I was so intrigued why he has so much, that I found out that he developed BedJump.com.

What an awesome and fun site. Something that is worth visiting if you need a quick break from work, or just need to let loose. I just can’t believe how high some of these people were getting. I was so entertained that I had to submit a couple of bed jump shots in my stream.

Here’s how the extra bed jumping photos from SD turned out.

Thanks to Chris for the extra time he put in to making one outrageous presentation. Good times indeed!

The 70–200 Conversation

So, I haven’t done one of these in a while. I was conversing with Juan about what gear to pack for my Big Island trip next week. Coming up with at least these:

  • 20D + SD400
  • 17–35/2.8–4
  • 28–75/2.8
  • batteries + chargers

He then suggested to bring the 70–200 as well. Now, for those non-shutterbug geeks, this lens is huge and heavy but it packs a wallop.

Anyways, here’s how it ended:

juan: (-) additional weight w/ the above pack
juan: ?!?!?!?!?!?
juan: what good is working out if you can’t carry an extra 10 pounds?!
juan: wuss
juan: I’ll fight you

Oh man, that cracks me up HA! This guy keeps it real =p

Zooomr Re-relaunched

Despite an unfortunate road block (i.e. DoS attack) this past Friday, Zooomr’s TechCrunch a couple of months ago? Well, besides the splash screen above which stayed up for a couple of days, I haven’t seen all the features yet first hand.

I remember briefly strolling through the site in March and digging the way Google Maps have been integrated, a tweaked version of LightBox in the form of… LightMap. Fast-forward to about a week or so ago, the latest news would have to be Flickr’s Thomas Hawk telling us his reasoning behind his move to Zooomr. That was probably the time where interest grew in checking back with Zooomr’s happenings.

If you don’t know, Thomas Hawk shoots A LOT of photos of his beloved SF. He’s a very well known Flickrite among other greats. So, I was interested in seeing what would make someone who loved Flickr so much to be a “Chief Evangelist” of another photo-sharing site.

Meanwhile, here I am… interested. Now, through the rabbit hole… (to be continued)

Guess Who’s Back?

Just got back from SoCal this morning. I flew Southwest since they have a good rewards program. That, and I can fly to either Burbank and/or LAX airports near home-home.

Anyways, its been a long time since New Year’s that I’ve seen home-home. The weather was great. It was around the cool 70’s the whole weekend. Although, it was drizzling a little bit Friday morning but the clouds scattered and made room for some great sunshine.

Meanwhile, it was great to see friends and fam. Friday night was a “Tacky Fundue” party at Belle and Cicely’s pad.

Fruits, vegetables, chocolate, sausage, chips, cheese… you name it—it all god dipped. That, some Atomic Bomberman four-play and some Twister made the night a non-stop action event. Too bad the city of San Gabriel makes you get a parking permit for $3.00 if you ain’t a resident.

Then came Saturday. It was Cat’s little shindig, celebrating her graduation from ICO/Chicago. Congrats Dr. El Gato, and welcome to the real world!

Besides the great food and company at Cat’s new pad in East Chula Vista, it was an early night to turn in. Belle, Cicely, Jay, Jovan and Lou were about to wake up early to go to the Mud Run. So Ry and I just went back to the hotel with them.

Fast-forward a bit. There were a lot of participants come to think of it. I expected it to be somewhat smaller but was just proven wrong. I guess it just grew throughout the years since its inception.

Meanwhile, the race was split into two categories, one for individuals and the other for teams. The overall winner finished his 10k-run around 46 minutes! This guy was fast. We saw him zoom by at the start, and finish right away when Ryan and I walked towards the last obstacle course.

Overall, it was an awesome experience. Definitely a great event to go to, shoot and cheer on friends and runners a like. I’m looking forward to doing it next year with more peeps. As usual, the more the merrier.

I Love Mud

From my mind to yours, just because its San Diego doesn’t mean that the weather doesn’t cool down to the low 50s. Stay classy, San Diego.
