What’s going on recently? All these great minds in Entertainment (Music and Comedy) have been leaving us lately. First, it was Bernie Mac, then Isaac Hayes, and now LeRoi Moore. I don’t know how it’ll be in a couple of weeks as I got tickets to see DMB perform at the Greek Theatre (UC Berkeley) on September 6th. It’s just not the same with his sax. My heart goes out to his family, friends, DMB and the rest of the Warehouse.

Mile High Music Festival presented by SanDisk is scheduled to take place just outside of Denver, CO at the Outer Fields of Dicks Sporting Goods Park on July 19–20, 2008. DMB will perform as top bill on Sunday, July 20th, while Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers will headline the festival on Saturday, July 19th. Other artists in the lineup include John Mayer, The Black Crowes, O.A.R., Michael Franti and Spearhad, Rodrigo y Gabriela, Steve Winwood, Colbie Caillat, The Roots and many more! In celebration of its 100 years, 3 artists (Santogold, Julian Casablancas, and N.E.R.D) came to make a dope track entitled “My Drive Thru” (produced by Pharrell Williams). You may download the song in MP3 format by going to Converse’s site.

While reading my emails, I got the TED newsletter and read about Rokia Traore performing “Kounandi”. Then from the comments below the video/performance’s post, got linked to a movie also called “Kounandi” (via Emily McManus).
Also learned that “Kounandi” is a name that means “one who brings luck”. The more you know…
