Here’s Kanye West’s latest music video off his upcoming album, 808’s and Heartbreak. It was directed by Hype Williams.

I’m digging the use of color and rotoscoping[1].

  1. Somewhat reminds me of Heavy Metal, and more recently, A Scanner Darkly. []

Hey Champ x Lupe Fiasco x FNF

October 16th, 2008  |  Published in Music

With influences from “art, history, science, the 80s, cartoons, Where in the World is Carmen San Diego, and of course personal misfortune/insecurity”, Hey Champ rocks it. The band is made up of Saam Hagshenas (vox, guitar, keys), Jon Marks (rhythm, vox, keys), and Pete Dougherty (keys, synths).

I’m digging their music video for Gold Dust Girl. The opening part just reminds me of the rave scene from Matrix Reloaded (after Morpheus addresses Zion, and Neo & Trinity gets jiggy). Anyways, check it out:

By the way, Lupe just recently signed them to his label FNF. For him to pick them up, you know they are headed no other way than up! Here’s Lupe broadcasting Hey Champ’s signing:

Congrats! FNF UP!

Lykke Li

October 2nd, 2008  |  Published in Music

Dang. Lykke Li. This broad is getting major hype. Not only is she bringing it, but she’s really dope and talented. If you haven’t heard of the Swedish newcomer’s “free spirited, performance pop” from my Urban Outfitter’s LSTN #1 post a while back, you are missing out. But, don’t fret—it’s not too late.

The first song that I heard from her was “Little Bit”. I think I was replaying it for a couple of times (along with some others) when I was listening to the LSTN #1 album. Here’s her first video:

Little Bit. Music video made by Mattias Montero.

Yah, not too shabby. But check it—here are some bits of her performing live:

Pretty dope, ain’t she? It may float your boat or not, but expand those senses. Here are some ways to keep up with her:

If you dig her, go support and get her album Youth Novels, now available at Amazon.
