Memos from 2006

Merry Christmas!

Another year where the Holidays just sees a bloom in lights, nativity scenes and great, home-cooked meals. It’s bad and good at the same time, in terms of the food that is. You see your calories jump up to an ultimate high during these last weeks of the year. You try not to eat so much but you look at the table and just need to get a munch out of each and one of the specially, prepared entrees. And then thats where it hits you, you just consumed two rounds worth of a buffet meal.

It’s all good though, it makes the cooks happy and make them feel satisfied as the hours of work they put in to cooking one dish isn’t in vain. But damn, food coma comes next and that is a different story on its own. Anyways, on with the fiesta in your stomachs. Merry Christmas or Happy Chrismahanukwanzakah!

PS. Go watch Curse of the Golden Flower. If you like Hero and/or House of Flying Daggers, then It’s definitely worth the full price. That, or if you just want to start your year of with a great movie.

Happy Thanksgiving and Damn You Amazon Customers!

Happy Turkey Day! It’s been one hectic day already. I don’t know if you have heard about Amazon.com’s new gig, Customers Vote, but I heard it first from Ryan earlier this week. He noted it because of the Xbox 360 deal for only a low-down-and-dirty $100 (core system). That’s about a $200+ saving from its MSRP.

Anyways, it was one exciting and disappointing morning at the same time. Not only was the deal advertised on Amazon.com’s homepage, but it was everywhere! I mean everywhere as in: radio, vlogs, blogs and maybe even on TV. There were only 1,000 units for the deal, and that ain’t a lot. In terms of internet-store for a deal this great, that’s less than a second or two in terms of the deal’s lifetime.

Anyways, enough of my stats talk. I guess the reason why I was so upset in not getting one (other than I can make a quick $200 or more on ebay if I sell it) is that I got a new toy. I was hoping to use the money from the Xbox to feed this new crack, or at least make it free for me so I wouldn’t feel bad about spending some money on “nonsense” items. Then again, it is from Costco.

Holy crap Batman! As I was combing through my Flickr comments this past weekend, I stumbled upon Chrispitality’s (aka. Chris Clarke). I then saw a good amount of “bed jumping” photos on his Flickr stream. I was so intrigued why he has so much, that I found out that he developed BedJump.com.

What an awesome and fun site. Something that is worth visiting if you need a quick break from work, or just need to let loose. I just can’t believe how high some of these people were getting. I was so entertained that I had to submit a couple of bed jump shots in my stream.

Here’s how the extra bed jumping photos from SD turned out.

Thanks to Chris for the extra time he put in to making one outrageous presentation. Good times indeed!

Thank God it’s mid-November

After a few weeks off from work to visit and experience Japan with an awesome bunch of friends, things have picked up both at work and at home. Don’t you just like it when you come back to work and you receive over 400 emails? Besides trying to find the time to do laundry and processing the photos I’ve taken from the trip, I’m still trying to not think about Japan too much. But when you very much enjoyed an experience, it’s hard not to reminisce and reply all the fun stuff that you did. The thing I miss the most would probably be the food. Oh man… the food!

Anyways, besides trying to process and upload photos, clean my room, do laundry, etc. I’m trying to get ready in selling or transitioning my Accord to Gabby. Its lease is up early December. I didn’t know what to do, whether to buy it out from Honda, return it or get a new car/SUV. I’ve taken great care of it and vice-versa. So what better way to let go of it than to have someone you know take over. This way, you feel at ease seeing something sentimental be taken care of by someone who appreciates it. Well, I hope things go as plan so I may get a new one soon—I’m thinking of the Pilot. What you think? See me rollin’ in one?

I think it’s a good investment if I get one as I don’t drive that much during the weekdays so I save on gas and mileage. That, and I’ll be able to go up the mountain a bit easier this upcoming season, which I hope will be a good one. Anyways, time to do some catching up. I’ll leave you with a blessing that my aunt (from Norwalk) sent me this morning:

May today there be peace within.
May you trust God that you are exactly where you are meant to be.
May you not forget the infinite possibilities that are born of faith.
May you use those gifts that you have received, and pass on the love
that has been given to you….
May you be content knowing you are a child of God…
Let His presence settle into your bones, and allow your soul the freedom
to sing, dance, praise and love.
It is there for each and every one of us.

God Bless You All!
